Blessed with exceptional terroirs and celebrated for its wine quality, the Loire Valley is a dream destination for wine lovers. This major wine region is brimming with wine‑tourism activities that allow visitors to discover and experience its unique identity.
Visits to châteaux, tours of wine estates, stays in the heart of the vineyards, tastings in atmospheric cellars, or explorations of spectacular underground caves—everything is in place for a complete and unforgettable wine‑tourism journey.
Today, we invite you to discover the cellars specially selected for your visit.
The first sparkling‑wine house created in the region using the famous traditional method, Ackerman is an essential stop for anyone wishing to explore the world of Loire cellars. Located in Saumur and founded in 1811 by Jean‑Baptiste Ackerman, the Ackerman House offers an immersive journey through its troglodyte cellars, carved into former tuffeau quarries—an impressive setting where tradition and shared heritage come together.
What was once the production site for Saumur sparkling wines has, over the decades, become a venue for cultural visits (exclusive tours), contemporary art exhibitions (Ackerman + Fontevraud Residency), festive events (Musical Evenings) and themed experiences (Art & Troglo stays).
In this extraordinary world of seven kilometres of galleries, you’ll discover a universe where art and wine blend seamlessly. With its original and surprising experiences, Ackerman has become a truly unique and eclectic destination, combining conviviality, creativity and pleasure. A variety of events are organised throughout the year, ensuring a different experience every time you visit. Step into this remarkable setting and uncover the secrets behind its exceptional cuvées.
Located at the eastern edge of the Saumur region, in Montsoreau, the Domaine de la Perruche is a wonderful producer of refined red and white wines. This 25‑hectare estate overlooking the Loire Valley invites you into its troglodyte cellars for a unique tour and tasting of its cuvées. You’ll learn the secrets behind the Saumur‑Champigny wines that have built the estate’s reputation through an engaging and informative experience, ending in the Caveau de Chaumont, where old vintages quietly mature.
Specialising in sparkling wines from the Touraine region, Monmousseau invites you on a charming and authentic tour through its galleries. Carved into tuffeau stone—likely used in the construction of nearby châteaux—these still‑active galleries retrace the history and origins of the cellars. Throughout your visit, you’ll be captivated by artistic projections of Loire châteaux, illuminated in breathtaking displays. Light shows and artistic installations guide you through an enchanting world.
In these caves of a thousand lights, you can choose between a guided or self‑guided tour. With temperatures remaining around 12–13°C, the cellars are the perfect cultural escape on a warm summer day. We do recommend bringing a light sweater or jacket. Children are welcome too—games and activities are available to make their visit fun and engaging.
