Domaine de la Perruche is situated at Montsoreau, famous for its 15th century château immortalised by Alexandre Dumas in his novel “The Lady of Montsoreau”. The estate is made up of 45 hectares of 35-year-old Chenin and Cabernet Franc vines, planted on the slopes of an exceptional chalk terroir on a plateau overlooking the Loire.
It produces mainly red wines in the Saumur-Champigny appellation, but also white and sparkling Saumur wines. The entire estate enjoys Level 3 HEV certification (High Environmental Value), guaranteeing a high level of environmental performance in biodiversity conservation, management of fertiliser use and irrigation and the control of phytosanitary products.
Just next to the River Loire, in a remarkable space 45 metres underground, “In the Heart of the Cellar” offers a unique experience and an opportunity to discover outstanding wines. Our Sommelier Guide will reveal all the cellar master’s secrets, and explain the history and terroir of the Saumur-Champigny vineyards. The visit includes a commented tasting of 5 wines, made from the emblematic Loire grape varieties, Cabernet France and Chenin, in the setting of the troglodyte caves, the barrel hall and the Chaumont cellar.
Domaine de la Perruche is a great Loire Valley wine. Situated in the district of Montsoreau, that is famous for its castle, its vines are planted in the eastern part of the Saumur Champigny appellation, on a plateau, overlooking the Loire. Few vineyards within this area are as concentrated as Domaine de la Perruche. Indeed, it is made up of two pieces of land, when most other estates are highly fragmented. Vine-growing is adapted to each parcel, thereby requiring good knowledge and careful monitoring. Domaine de la Perruche specializes in fruity and supple red Saumur wines with good aromatic concentration, thanks to well ripened harvests.

Les Rotissants is derived from a parcel facing entirely south, where vines roast in the sunshine. Our oenologists pay special attention to this product, in view of elaborating a fruity and mineral wine.
This wine is made from parcels belonging to the vineyard of Domaine de la Perruche – a terroir of flinty-clay on tuffeau rock, and a chalk subsoil, well adapted to Cabernet Franc. Careful ageing techniques are implemented to highlight the typical mineral expression offered by the limestone terroir.
Clos de Chaumont is one of the finest parcels at Domaine de la Perruche and counts among the last plots harvested within the Saumur Champigny appellation area. Its altitude protects the vines from springtime frost and favors their exposure to summertime sunshine. Careful vine-growing and winemaking techniques allow the Cabernet Franc variety to fully express its typical features.
