Domaine la Perruche is located in the village of Montsoreau, in Anjou, a place renowned for its 15th-century château overlooking the Loire River, made famous by Alexandre Dumas in his novel La Dame de Montsoreau. Set in the heart of the Loire Valley, Domaine la Perruche spans 45 hectares of vineyards planted along gently sloping hillsides and shaped by an exceptional chalky terroir. The estate’s 35-year-old Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc vines grow on a plateau overlooking the Loire, benefiting from both altitude and natural freshness. Nestled in a peaceful valley, the estate offers a picturesque landscape where vineyards thrive in close harmony with nature. Domaine la Perruche is best known for its red wines from the Saumur-Champigny appellation, and also produces elegant still white wines under the Saumur appellation, expressing the diversity of Loire Valley wines.
The entire vineyard is certified HVE Level 3 (High Environmental Value), reflecting a strong commitment to biodiversity, sustainable vineyard management, responsible fertilisation and environmentally respectful plant-protection practices.Domaine la Perruche also crafts an exceptional cuvée, a true expression of its terroir and a testament to the artisanal savoir-faire of the Pays de la Loire wine region.
Domaine la Perruche is an exceptional site overlooking the Loire River, set 45 metres beneath its own vineyard in the heart of the Anjou Valley.
Visitor feedback on the “Au Cœur du Chai” tour highlights a truly unique experience, offering an in-depth discovery of the richness of Loire Valley wines. Guided by a professional sommelier, you will uncover the secrets of the cellar master, as well as the history and terroir of the Saumur-Champigny vineyard — a true gem of the Saumur region. During the tasting of five Domaine la Perruche cuvées, you will appreciate the fruity expressions of emblematic Loire grape varieties such as Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc. Each cuvée reveals its own complexity on the nose and palate, shaped by the limestone soils that define the terroir. The visit, which includes the troglodyte lounge, the barrel cellar and the Chaumont tasting room, immerses you in the heart of the region’s winegrowing heritage, offering a complete and authentic journey into the world of Loire Valley wines.
